My Pregnancy Blog

So I'm officially pregnant (woot!) and according to all of the apps and websites I've joined I have to start a pregnancy journal or blog to really get the impact of the experience. At first I couldn't really think of anything I could put except that I've been nauseous and emotional and that's not really fun to read...but then my coworker said to go for it so here we go.

I am 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant as of today. We are due on October 28th so my husband and I are just beginning the journey. This is our first child and we are super excited! We found out on February 25th. I had a feeling I was pregnant so he convinced to go get a pregnancy test to find out. I wanted to surprise him if I was so I actually took the test while I was still at the store. When I got home I handed him the test and then we drove to our parents and told them the great news!

After that we called our dads (they were both out of town) and everyone just seems super excited. Today was our first doctor's appointment so now that we know for sure that we're pregnant we put it on Facebook. Here is what I did to announce my pregnancy to the social media world:

October 28th, huh? Sounds like a good day to have a baby :) — with Riley Spear.

So my pregnancy experience has been fun so far. I've been really nauseous but soda crackers have worked the majority of the time. I've had my really emotional moments...like bawling for no reason, always a treat for Riley. Or just being REALLY upset over something really small. I experienced that before pregnancy of course but it's been taken to a whole other level of crazy. I've also been craving a lot of different foods but I craved food before pregnancy; the difference is that now I just want to cry if I don't get the food I'm craving.

We had our first doctor's appointment today. That was a blast. I had my ovaries felt for the first time and although it didn't hurt I felt pretty violated. I also have a cold right now so when I asked the doctor if I could take any medicine she said that I could only take Tylenol...everything else is not good to take while pregnant. Dang you ibuprofen! It just makes me want to only take Tylenol even after I'm done if it's the only brand that's safe to take right now.

That's been life so far! I'm sure it will get a lot more interesting.

  1. Oh I loved being pregnant. it was so fun! I had a cold the entire time though and for about 3 months after. The morning sickness lasted about 5 months for me- I hope you have better luck. Peppermints helped, and thick liquids like smoothies. Everyone is different though.

  2. Good luck!!! I don't usually struggle with morning sickness much, but if it gets bad you can ask for Zofran. It;s prescription anti-nausea medicine. It does usually pass by 14 weeks. Almost halfway there!
