And He's Down!

Jax officially dropped two days ago! Woot! It's hard to tell since I have a scar that prevents stretching lower down but trust me...he dropped. Now his head is down and he's kicking my ribs. Good times.

Most people have said they don't enjoy it when the baby drops but I've experienced more pros than cons. Granted that may change with time, but here is what I've noticed:

PROS: I've been sleeping better, less heartburn, breathing is easier as well

CONS: I feel like I'm walking with a grapefruit in between my legs, there is more pressure where the baby is

So that's exciting. We're hoping he stays in my womb for at least another 3 weeks but we'll see. I'm convinced that our parents have jinxed us to have the baby this weekend since both of our families are out of state. If he doesn't come this weekend he'll probably be late. That's life.

We're pretty much ready for the baby. The main thing I'm trying to figure out is maternity leave and how school is going to work. If the baby doesn't come earlier I'll probably take maternity leave from October 15th until the first week of December. That way I'll get time with the baby and have a couple of weeks of leftover maternity leave to use if he gets sick or something.

The problem with that is Riley is still in school for the first week and a half. I would have to find a babysitter for the afternoons. I really have no desire to do that but we need the money. We'll figure it out.

Then in January I'm going back to school full time. I only have two semesters left until I get my Bachelor's degree and I want that done as soon as possible. Luckily UVU has a daycare center that takes 2 weeks and older, plus we're planning on having Riley have no class in the afternoon so he can be with the baby while I work.

The good news is that we'll both be getting our degrees in the year and a half. We also have family and friends nearby that will be able to help us out a lot of the time and when they can't, daycare is available. The sucky part is having to be away from the baby more than we want. We'll survive...it's just going to be a hard adjustment.
